Sulphate Removal From Seawater Aids Produced Water Re-Injection (PWRI)
Most offshore water injection projects commence water flooding using seawater because of its ready availability and lack of sufficient produced water initially. As produced water availability increases, many systems commingle it with a gradually reducing flow rate of seawater, but then often suffer from severe scaling, biofouling and microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) problems. Taking the sulphate out of the seawater controls these problems and so greatly aids PWRI.
