The purpose of this job is to facilitate support to the Technical and Engineering teams within Oil Plus and to be accountable to the company’s senior management team on accurately communicating successes and challenges. Essentially this is to oversee our project work at our offices in Newbury, UK. Day-to-day this role is required to work with our Technical and Engineering team members, assisting them in completing tasks in an orderly and timely manner to meet assigned deadlines, and to a technical standard that is acceptable to the client.

The job will encompass all stages of a typical Project Delivery Model (PDM) from forecasting, to monitoring, through to reporting and communicating progress both internally and externally with clients. Work Procedure OPL-SOP-PRJ-01 - Routine Project Coordinator Tasks details the specific function.

There will be a requirement to compile and own the above work procedure and to ensure that it evolves, with the role, to ensure that all routine tasks are accurately documented along with identifying areas of improvement. The Technical Manager shall set response times for reporting and tolerances.

It will be imperative that you maintain good customer relations and work with the Company Sales department to attain customer feedback analysis. Candidates should be able to multitask, have strong communication skills and business knowledge. As part of a dynamic technical team the post holder will be from a scientific background and familiar with the delivery of Production Chemistry and Microbiology tasks and solutions. You will be a team player and accustomed to working to deadlines. You will have experience in the Energy sector and be conversant with Quality Management Systems and their controls.

Requirements

In order to fulfil the role to the company’s expectation, it is anticipated that the following Job Knowledge/Professional Development is required:

  • Sufficient high-level technical knowledge to ensure compliance with the agreed client scope of work
  • Ability to document project task completion and communicate this internally and externally at a level to suit the recipient. Support project managers with client liaison to ensure client satisfaction at all times
  • Accurately quantify project percentage completion, to ensure that the actual percentage completion is in line with the percentage usage of the budget
  • Use collated project information to support sales team during the build-up of the project from proposal stage with accurate and up-to-date work rates
  • Sufficient understanding of project delivery to keep senior management informed by preparing project updates and presentations that showcase a project’s value and status, highlighting any additional work which would enhance the quality of the project, but which was not part of the original scope
  • Commercial awareness (financial project control skills an advantage)

Academic or vocational education and/or training required:

  • Must possess a minimum of HNC or an equivalent qualification together with extensive experience in a similar role within the Oil & Gas Sector onshore or offshore
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Project Coordinator, demonstrating the skills detailed above
  • Project management qualification desirable (PRINCE2 preferred) OR
  • BSc degree in a suitable subject (necessary)
  • MEng / BSc engineering qualification (desired)
  • MBA (highly advantageous)
  • Willingness to gain the necessary practical experience in the event of insufficient project experience

  • Experience as a Project Coordinator, demonstrating the skills detailed above
  • Man management (team leader experience an advantage)
  • Evidence of innovation, continuous improvement input and effective communication of project status
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, documentation and ensure that all members of a project team adhere to set standards (necessary)
  • Contribution to Quality Management System (ideally certified to ISO 9001 level)
  • Oil industry experience (advantageous)
