We are looking to recruit a permanent Instrument / Calibration Technician to work in our Newbury facilities. The successful candidate should have proven experience within the Oil & Gas, Chemical, Marine, Pharmaceuticals, R&D or Water industries. They must also have an aptitude for mechanical/pneumatic and hydraulic engineering.
This position requires a HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or above.
Responsibilities
The person will report to the Laboratory Supervisor and be responsible for managing the day-to-day running of the workshop in compliance with our ISO 9001:2015 certification and HSE guidelines. The role will require liaising with the technical manager, and team of scientists and engineers on multi-discipline studies and ongoing research and development projects.
Varied duties include:
- Planned and reactive maintenance and calibration activities on a variety of instrumentation and control systems for use in-house and on-site
- System configuration and design to support various laboratory applications
- Bespoke logic circuitry pneumatic / hydraulic – design, procure, manufacture
- Liaise with sub-contractors for general fabrication and machining requirements
- Preparation of various site equipment
- Report any non-conforming instrumentation to appropriate personnel in a timely manner
- Compile and maintain accurate records of calibrations including certificates, reports etc
- General facilities maintenance
- Fork Lift Truck
- PAT testing at scheduled frequency
- Ensure work complies with ISO 9001:2015 and other standards
- Identify improvements to processes/procedures and update management accordingly
- To maintain a clean, safe working environment and ensure that the Company’s Health & Safety policy is followed in relation to safe working procedures
Requirements
- Minimum HNC Electrical/Electronic Engineering
- Methodical approach
- Experience in equipment calibration
- Working knowledge Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, VISIO and AutoCAD etc
- Analytical thinker with good organisation and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work as part of a team
- A pro-active attitude and a willingness to carry out roles not normally part of the day to day work activities
- Aptitude for self-development
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations
