We are looking for a production chemist to work on either a short or long-term contract basis. The successful candidates will be required to travel on a rotational basis in the North Sea sector and other overseas areas.
Responsibilities
The position will include offshore and onshore field analysis as part of our operational support services.
- Undertake chemical efficacy studies, sampling and analysis and site audits
- Follow established laboratory offshore procedures and Oil Plus work scopes
- Contribute to, and generate, novel work scopes and procedures to keep Oil Plus at the forefront of oilfield chemistry
- Manage cost and time constraints
- Perform risk assessments
- Writing weekly progress reports and technical reports
- Laboratory and desktop R&D involving chemical interactions in the subsurface
- Keeping up to date with developments and new research
Requirements
- A BSc or MSc in chemistry
- Laboratory experience in water chemistry, inorganic chemistry, mineral-fluid interactions and gas analysis
- On-site field experience and familiarity with oil production operations, either onshore or offshore
- Knowledge in one or more areas including: geochemistry, production chemistry and corrosion
- Ability to work on both small and large multi-disciplinary projects, either as the project manager or as part of a project team
- Team working, organisation, a pro-active attitude and a willingness to carry out roles not normally part of the day to day work activities
- Intermediate/advanced skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and project management tools
- Good presentation skills for delivery of project and research data to clients
- Experience with standard modelling and analysis packages such as Multiflash, Geochemist Workbench, PHREEQC or ScaleChem
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations
- In date BOSIET and offshore medial certification
