We are looking for a petroleum or reservoir engineer to assist our petroleum engineering team on a short-term contract basis at our Headquarters in Newbury, UK.
Responsibilities
The work primarily involves conducting specialist desktop reservoir simulation studies. The position will also include project leading multi-disciplinary studies, with offshore and onshore field analysis, process audits and operational support.
- Conduct reservoir simulation studies using a variety of industry standard and in-house tools – modelling studies will involve mainly reservoir souring, scaling, corrosion, fracture and injectivity, nodal well analysis, etc
- Contribute to and generate novel work scopes and procedures to keep Oil Plus at the forefront of specialised oilfield reservoir simulations
- Manage cost and time constraints
- Perform risk assessments
- Writing technical reports and papers for journals/publications
- Keep up to date with new software developments and updates
Requirements
- A BSc or MSc in Petroleum Engineering
- Experience of well injectivity index computations for PWRI and other injection scenarios
- Experience of general reservoir simulation using reservoir and specialised near-wellbore simulation tools
- Experience of industry-standard 3D software in reservoir, injectivity and fracture and reservoir souring simulations such as Eclipse, PetrelRE, PVTSim, SourSimRL® and REVEAL
- Experience of other production engineering tools such Multiflash and Scalechem will be an advantage
- Experience of building simple and complex reservoir grids to represent varied waterflood patterns (5, 7 spot wells, etc.) in reservoir modelling
- Knowledge and understanding of oil and gas field reservoir geology, well design/completion, fluid flow, rock properties, PVT analysis and production processes
- On-site field experience and familiarity with oil production operations, either onshore or offshore
- Ability to work on both small and large multi-disciplinary projects, either as the project leader or as part of a project team
- Team working, organisation, a pro-active attitude and a willingness to carry out roles not always part of the day to day work activities
